An intricately designed great room and two brick terraces were seamlessly grafted on to the Macomber’s existing Tudor-style home in Port Orchard, WA. It is hard to tell where the old meets the new, as careful attention to detail was paid in matching the tongue-and-groove ceiling materials, hardwood flooring and masonry. In fact, some of the existing brick was salvaged from the demolition of existing house siding and patio space where the new addition sits.
Five sets of double-French doors, with brass accents inlaid in cane glass, serve as the point of entry from either side of the addition. From the view terrace, the owners catch a peek–a–boo glimpse of the Puget Sound. The arbor terrace offers a private, relaxing space surrounded by beautiful landscaping.
Interior details include vertical grain Douglas fir timber-framed trusses, along with an inglenook with built-in window seats, custom cushions and pillows. Local artist Nina Lyman hand painted tiles that are inlaid into countertops, a built-in end table and face the fireplace … truly one–of–a–kind custom work.
